Effective Budget Solution

A simpler solution designed to improve airborne acoustic noise. This system reduces costs in terms of labour effort and required materials. We recommend placing the 100mm acoustic mineral wool under the floors so that no gaps remain. To do this 2 of every five floorboards typically need to be lifted. The mineral wool should be friction fitted such that no gaps or holes where sound can leak remain. Once the wool is in place and the boards are screwed down the gaps between the boards must be sealed with an acoustic sealant.

If a sound damping mat such as SBM5 or M20AD is to be used all floor boards will need to be lifted.
