Acoustic Plasterboards with Impact Absorbing Mat and Mineral Wool

Acoustic mineral wool is added to the above solution under the floorboards. The addition of the acoustic mineral wool will significantly add to the airborne sound attenuation by adding a sound absorption layer. Remember only 2 of 5 floorboards needs lifting to gain access.

required materials

• Resilient Tape (on)
• 18mm APB
• flooring top wear surface (4mm hardboard)
• SBM5 between APB and floor boards
• 52mm AMW (beneath joists)
  

Installation:

• the room must be cleared as floor boards must be lifted.
• unpack AMW100 and cut 10mm wider than joist spacing, pack AMW100 down between joists.
• relay the lifted floorboards, seal all floorboard joints
• the floor should be swept making sure a smooth uniform surface for laying the SBM5.
• SBM5 should be layed across the direction of the floorboards and sealed at joints.
• APB should be layed stait on the SBM5 followed by cailk at joints.
• Before the seconf layer of APB is layed the lower layer should be sprayed with acoustic adhesive.
• The second layer of APB should be layed with boards running at right angles to the first layer, caulking all joints.
• lay top wearing surface with hardboard or use quiet board for better soundproofing, making sure to run a bead of sealant along all joints between boards.
• screw down floor floor to make sure there are no movement, creaks or noises from boards.
